Xiaomi has launched a new device, Redmi 3, under their budget “Redmi” series with metal body and larger display compare to its predecessor Redmi 2 Prime. The Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be available from 12th January on company’s China website. There is no information about international launch yet.

The smartphone comes in a metal body and a new diamond-patterned design. It sports 5 inch HD IPS display and comes with 16GB internal storage and 2 GB RAM. The dual sim device has hybrid sim slot with support for up to 128GB microSD card on second sim slot. It is powered by Octa-core Snapdragon 616 ( 4 x 1.2 GHz Cortex A53 + 4 x 1.5 GHz Cortex A53) Soc with Adreno 405 GPU.
The Redmi 3 runs on MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop. For photography, it has 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, LED flash and 5-megapixel front facing camera with f/2.2 aperture. Both cameras can record videos in Full HD. Other camera features include Panorama, HDR, Scene mode, Face recognition, Beauty mode and Manual mode.

The smartphone comes with non-removable 4100 mAh battery which supports quick charging. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB 2.0 port. It has Light Sensor, E-Compass, Gravity Sensor, Proximity Sensor and surprisingly it also features Infrared port.
The Xiaomi Redmi 3 will be available on mi.com in Gold, Silver, Dark Grey and Classic Gold priced at 699 Chinese Yuan (approx. US $107 / INR 7100).
