After teasing for more than a week, Xiaomi finally revealed Redmi Note Prime for India. This will be the second phone by Xiaomi manufactured in India at Sri City Plant in Andhra Pradesh. The upgraded variant of Redmi Note 4G is available on Amazon as well as on Mi India website at Rs.8499. There is not much difference between Redmi Note 4G and Redmi Note Prime.
Redmi Note Prime Build and Display
The device sports 5.5 inch HD (1280 X 720) IPS display with plastic body and is exactly similar to its predecessor. Dimensions of the device are 154 X 78.7 X 9.45 mm and weighs at 185 grams. Xiaomi has not made any design changes in the device hence it looks exactly similar to Redmi Note 4G.
Hardware
It is powered by Quad core Snapdragon 410 (Cortex A53) clocked at 1.2 GHz paired with Adreno 306 GPU and it has 2 GB DDR3 RAM.
Software
Sadly the Redmi Note Prime still runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with MIUI 7 on top. There is no information of software update yet.
Storage
The device comes with increased storage capacity at 16GB which can be further expanded up to 32GB additional via microSD card.
Sim and Connectivity
It is a dual sim device and both sim support 4G LTE in India (FDD LTE B-3, TDD LTE B-40). Other connectivity options include WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0LE, GPS and USB 2.0 port and it also supports USB OTG.
Camera
There is no improvement in camera department compare to its previous generation. It has 13 megapixel (f/2.2) autofocus rear camera with LED flash and 5 megapixel front camera. It is yet to confirm if sensors have been upgraded or not. Other camera features include Zero Shutter lag, Face Recognition, High Dynamic Range (HDR) and Real-Time Filters.
Battery
Though it is packed with similar 3100 mAh Lithium-ion Polymer removable Battery, optimised MIUI 7 uses power-saving strategies to give you 10% more battery life compare to previous version of MIUI. Xiaomi claims user will get 14 hours of internet browsing / 38 hours of talk time/ 60 hours of music playback / 775 hours on standby on single charge.
Sensors
Gyroscope, Compass, Accelerometer, Proximity & Light sensor.
