Oneplus announced their 3rd smartphone today, “Oneplus X”. Earlier both Oneplus One and Oneplus 2 created hype and were difficult to buy initially due to invite system. Oneplus X is targeting mid-range segment but it will also be available via invite only initially as Oneplus 2. Have a quick look at the specifications.

Oneplus X will be available in 2 variants, Onyx and limited edition Ceramic. The Oneplus X Onyx is made out of glass on a metal frame. The Ceramic one is more interesting, as it comes scratch-resistant with a hardness of 8.5H on the Mohs scale. The device comes with 5 inch Full HD Amoled display that comes to 441ppi. The dual sim device has hybrid sim slots where you can either use 2 sim cards or 1 sim card and a microSD card up to 128GB. The device comes with Glass back panel which might be fingerprint magnet and feel slippery too. The smartphone is missing fingerprint scanner but it has “Alert Slider” as seen on Oneplus 2. Oneplus X is powered by 2.3GHz Quad core Snapdragon 801 coupled with Adreno 330 GPU. The smartphone has 16GB internal storage and 3GB RAM. It is running on Oxygen OS based on Android 5.1.1. The device measures 140 X 69 X 6.9 mm, the Onyx variant weighs 138 gram where as Ceramic edition weighs 160 gram. Other connectivity features include WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
For photography, Oneplus X has 13MP ISOCELL autofocus rear camera with f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and LED flash where as there is 8MP front camera with f/2.4 aperture and wide angle lens. The device gets juice from 2525 mAh battery. Mr.Vikas Agarwal commented at India launch, “the Oneplus X will be the first device that will be locally produced from our Foxconn facility in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh, India.”
The Oneplus X Onyx is priced at Rs.16999 and Ceramic variant is priced at Rs.22999 in India. There will be only 10000 unites of Ceramic variant on sale. The smartphone will be available through invite only exclusively on Amazon India for a month, after a month there will be weekly 1 hour Open Sales on Amazon India. The Onyx variant will go on sale from 5th November and Ceramic variant will be available later. It will be available in Europe on November 5 for €269, or £199 in the UK and then in the US on November 19 for $249. The Ceramic edition will be available in Europe on November 24 with invite for €369, or £269 in the UK.
