Xiaomi has announced Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime in China today along with their latest MIUI 7. The smartphone comes with improved specifications than its predecessor Redmi Note including MIUI 7 based on Android 5 Lollipop.
Redmi Note 2 is built on Magnesium Alloy metal frame and comes in variety of colors including White and Dark Grey. Dimensions of the device are 152 X 76 X 8.25mm and it weighs 160g. The handset comes with 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display with “Sunshine Screen” (automatically adjust the screen contrast according to lighting) and “Luminous Screen” (optimized screen for low light reading) technology. The handset is powered by Octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 clocked at 2GHz (2.2GHz for Redmi Note 2 Prime) with PowerVR G6200 GPU.
Other specifications include 13MP rear camera with 5-element lens and f/2.2 aperture. Rear camera also features with Phase Detection AutoFocus technology. 5MP front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and Intelligent Beauty camera features. Dual sim device comes with 16GB internal storage and 2GB RAM. Redmi Note 2 Prime has larger 32GB storage and 2GB RAM. It packs 3060 mAh battery with quick charge support.

- TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE, 2.0GHz, 16GB, 2GB RAM, priced at RMB 899 (USD 141)
- TDD-LTE + FDD-LTE, 2.2GHz, 32GB, 2GB RAM, priced at RMB 999 (USD 156)
Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi (Dual band), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Micro USB 2.0 and IR Blaster. As per Xiaomi China website the device will go on sale from August 16, 2015. There is no information yet about releasing the device out side China.
